By the end of this course you will gain a basic understanding of how to successfully set-up studio lighting to photograph high-key and low-key shots. Using 1-8 lights.

This is a basic introduction to studio photography. You will start the day by learning about the different equipment in the studio and how to use it properly. In the morning you will practice setting up different light set up’s, this will follow with some basic tuition on how to direct a model into a pose as after lunch you will be photographing a model. Hints and tips will be given on what to look out for. The day will end with a debrief and a feedback session.
Set ups include:
Beauty – 2 light set up to photograph beautiful headshots in a compact space.
High Key – Modern family style portrait on a bright white background, model will wear jeans and t-shirts without shoes.
Grey – Grey background for formal evening shots, model will wear evening dress.
Composite – Light set up for creating easy composite cut outs.
Low Key – Black background model will wear lingerie, using 1-2 lights plus a reflector you will help define the human body.
Arrive between 9.30am-9.45am for a 10am start. Car parking is by donations, we recommend a contribution in the honesty box of £2.00. Classes will finish at approximately 4.30pm. 1/2 hour break for lunch.
Tea and coffee are available without charge throughout the day however donations are welcomed. There is an onsite cafe but it can be busy on pilgrimage days so it is advised to bring a packed lunch.
